"I was happy to learn that adding insulin could help manage my blood sugar."- Larry Gottlieb, Wisconsin

Larry's Story

As a pathologist, Larry saw the problems that diabetes can cause. He was first diagnosed with diabetes in 1972. But he denied he had it. And he did very little to manage his care.

"You would think I'd know better, but I would rationalize and shrug it off. I did that for years!"

With the help of his healthcare team, Larry started paying attention to his diabetes. He wanted to limit diabetes complications. He soon discovered the need to keep his blood sugar and A1C levels on target.

Larry focused on oral diabetes medication, diet and exercise. Then his doctor started talking to him about insulin. He was happy to learn that adding insulin could help him manage his blood sugar.

"Many of us will reach a point when insulin is necessary to help control our blood sugar. With this in mind, why not consider starting insulin?" says Larry.

Larry is retired now. He loves spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also enjoys woodworking and talking to others about diabetes.

Larry has great enthusiasm for the things he believes in. He lets everyone he meets know they can manage their diabetes. There is help if you just reach out.
